Artist Statement

My creative process is much like a science experiment. Motivated by my curiosity I make discoveries.

This body of work references my childhood memories, imagined memories, childhood stories and rhymes. Each piece reveals my exploration and fascinations with human interaction, media and memories. Through experimentation I discover new ways to use the medium to create various surfaces and textures to promote a tactile experience of the subject. The material out of which my work is constructed is gathered out of necessity to allow the viewer to interact in a visceral way. My use of the paper doll dress, the silhouette of the figure and other recognizable imagery, such as food, suggests a more natural viewer relationship to the work while adding tension.

I value how my work is experienced. I rely on the viewer’s senses and memories to be an integral part of the participation.
